Because sponsorship benefits have measurable marketing value — such as logo placement, website links, social media recognition, or program ads — the IRS considers sponsorship a form of advertising. The value of these marketing benefits is not tax-deductible as a charitable contribution, though it can often be deducted as a business marketing expense (companies should consult their tax advisor).
